Seasons change but generous support for the MACC Fund never changes

The leaves have fallen, the air is crisp, the Milwaukee Bucks are playing well, and winter must be just around the corner since our neighbors to the northwest in Minnesota just got nearly a foot of snow. As the chilly winds fill the air, we are filled with memories of your generous support throughout the summer and fall starting with the Chili’s MACC Open in June.

Golf quickly gave way to bicycles as the 21st annual TREK 100 returned to Waterloo, Wis., where the worldwide leader in cycling, Trek Bicycle Corp., is based. Nearly 2,250 riders and hundreds of volunteers joined Eddie Doucette and me along with our good friend John Burke, president of Trek. They rode up to 100 miles on the beautiful country roads flanked by fertile farmland. The 21-year proceeds total $9.5 million!

The summer of golf and cycling gave way to the 34th annual Bucks MACC Fund Game in October celebrating where the MACC Fund got its start on a basketball court. Our great friends from Trek and the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association donated the proceeds from their events in June after watching 3-year-old named Liam who is battling cancer present the ball to start the game.

Now we look forward to the Balistreri Sendik’s Food Markets holiday promotions, selling 7-year-old Emilie’s adorable TODAY’S TMJ4 MACC*Star, the great Cute Kids Calendar from Mortensen’s Photography, the 25th anniversary Candy Cane Lane in West Allis, A Pack Lunch With Aaron Rodgers at a Packers Party House near Lambeau Field on Dec. 4, the TODAY’S TMJ4 Sports Auction 4 MACC at noon on Dec. 11 capping off the station’s 30th consecutive year of live broadcasts, Pepsi’s MACC Fund Holiday Program celebrating its 26th year and more.

We all know that economic challenges remain, but through it all, it is clear that generous friends still find the time and the money to fund research to help a child with cancer or a blood disorder.  For that, especially at this national time of giving thanks, I humbly and gratefully say “thank you.”  If you can, please consider making a “Gift of Hope” by clicking the DONATE button at   It is truly the gift that keeps on giving.
