Two longtime favorites make for a good weekend

One of the best parts of the MACC Fund are the events which become annual favorites. Two of them took place this weekend, namely the University of Wisconsin’s Theta Chi fraternity’s “Ski for Cancer” and Women for MACC’s “PastaFest.” Each have helped the MACC Fund provide a Gift of Hope to children with cancer and blood disorders for years.

Ski for Cancer was one of the first events to benefit the MACC Fund in the late 1970s. It took a hiatus for a number of years and returned to the slopes in 2010. This year it made a homecoming of sorts with its return to Cascade Mountain. The current members of Theta Chi did their alumni brothers proud as they raised what could be record sums of money. Regardless of the final totals, it is always a great day when young people join together to help kids with cancer. Having their fraternity’s dedicated alumni join in the fun providing a helping hand and support makes it even more special. Thanks to all for making time in their busy schedules to help the children.

PastaFest has been a favorite nearly as long as Women for MACC itself has been around. Each year hundreds of people visit the iconic Serb Hall on Milwaukee’s south side which has become famous as a traditional stop in the four-year cycle of US Presidential elections. The ladies of Women for MACC and their dedicated volunteers treat their generous patrons to the best in pasta, meatballs, sauce and salad with a tasty cupcake to round out the meal. Clowns, continuous entertainment, local celebrities and raffles galore made it an afternoon of family fun for all.

Thanks again to these two great groups who always find time and creative ways to help the MACC Fund help the children.
